What does Orthopaedic orthodontics involve?

There are usually 2 stages

  1. Orthopaedic appliance stage:
    1. This involves an appliance which is either removable or fixed in the mouth. This slowly expands and painlessly encourages the growth of the upper and/or lower jaw.
    2. Usually treatment lasts between 6-12 months.
    3. The dentists reviews your progress with monthly appointments
  2. Orthodontic stage:
    1. Once all expansion has occurred, tooth alignment with orthodontic brackets may be required.
    2. This can usually be completed between 6-12 months
    3. The dentists reviews your progress with monthly appointments
